Setting University Strategy

In his role as Rutgers’ chief executive officer, President Barchi is responsible for setting universitywide strategy in consultation with the governing boards, his leadership team, and the broader university community. He has provided strategic direction for taking full advantage of the 2013 integration of the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey into Rutgers and the university’s 2014 entrance into the Big Ten Conference.

Most notably, Dr. Barchi has led the development and implementation of two defining documents for the future direction of Rutgers: a strategic plan that outlines priorities for improving the university and identifies specific initiatives to achieve those goals; and a related physical master plan that provides bold visions for transforming each of the university’s campuses to match the strategic plan’s aspirations. The pages linked below note major initiatives of his presidency as well as indicators of progress toward the aspirations of the strategic plan.
