Office of the President
Reporting to the Rutgers Board of Governors, President Tate serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the university and oversees the vision, strategic direction, overall performance, and financial stability of Rutgers. By building on the university’s existing foundation, the president advances the institution’s academic, research, health care, and societal contributions, ensuring its continued prominence and influence on a local, state, national, and global scale.

Rutgers Governing Boards
Rutgers University is overseen by the Board of Governors and the Board of Trustees. The Board of Governors, created by state law in 1956, is the chief governing body of the university. The Board of Trustees, a governing body since the university’s founding in 1766, acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Governors and has certain fiduciary responsibilities.
