The Inauguration of President William F. Tate IV

President William F. Tate IV was inaugurated as the 22nd President of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, on November 7, 2025, at Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hall in Newark.

Students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and board members gathered to celebrate a new chapter in Rutgers' history: the inauguration of President William F. Tate IV. The event celebrated the university’s ongoing mission to expand opportunity, inspire innovation, and strengthen our communities through education and research. President Tate shared his vision for Rutgers as an institution that drives opportunity for students, New Jersey, and the world, announcing a new scholarship to celebrate student achievement.

The Edge Fund

President William F. Tate IV announced a new scholarship fund to support the next generation of thinkers and creators during his inauguration as the 22nd President of Rutgers University.

Rutgers will celebrate and support the next generation of thinkers and creators whose achievements in art, sports, science, and technology redefine excellence. Tate announced the new fund as the latest addition to programs that support student excellence and provide financial opportunities including the Rutgers Future Scholars Program and the Scarlet Promise initiative. 

“In an era defined by speed, spectacle and performative acts, we have a moment to demonstrate our commitment to opportunity. It exists in every ZIP code and income bracket in New Jersey. It is limited only by our collective focus and imagination,” Tate said.
